Storage
The Community tier includes 10 GB of Earthmover-managed storage and one connected bucket of your own. You do not need a cloud account to get started.
Professional plans have no allocation. The first 10 GB is included, and everything above it is billed at Cloudflare R2's rate, at cost with no markup. Connected buckets are uncapped.
Compute credits
Compute services run on clusters that you provision. A cluster runs some number of nodes, and you pick how big those nodes are. Clusters scale to zero and spin back up on demand, so you are not charged for idle time.
Each node costs credits per hour according to its size:
| Node size | Credits per hour |
|---|---|
| XS | 1 |
| S | 2 |
| M | 4 |
| L | 8 |
| XL | 16 |
| 2XL | 32 |
| 3XL | 64 |
A cluster consumes credits for every node it is running. A cluster of two M nodes costs 8 credits per hour, not 4.
Every node size is available on both tiers. Community gets 50 credits a month; Professional credits are custom.
A Community cluster always scales to zero when idle. Setting a minimum above zero keeps a service warm and always ready to answer, which is a Professional feature.
What can I do with 50 credits?
Enough to evaluate Compute properly on a real dataset:
- 50 hours of Tiles on a single XS node — roughly 200 separate map sessions
- 12 hours of SQL queries on a single M node — about 30 minutes every weekday for a month
- 45 minutes of openEO batch processing across four XL nodes
Credits reset at the start of each month and do not carry over.
See Clusters and credits for sizing guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the Community tier?
Real repositories, real storage, and real compute. You can create repositories, write and version data, serve it through Compute, and read anything published free in the Marketplace. It is not a demo mode or a read-only preview.
Is the Community tier going away?
No. The Community tier is a permanent tier. Catalog access to open data stays free. Your compute credits reset at the start of each month. A Professional plan buys more credits and always-on services.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Your data stays where it is and stays readable. Your Compute services stop serving until you add credits by upgrading. Nothing is deleted.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Your balance resets to 50 at the start of each month.
Why does my cluster shut down when I stop using it?
Community tier clusters scale to zero after 15 minutes idle so you are not spending credits on an idle service. They resume automatically on the next request, usually in a few seconds. Always-on services are a Professional feature.
What do I need Professional for?
Professional is required if you want to:
- Run services continuously without idle spin-down
- Store more than 10 GB, or connect more than one bucket of your own
- Subscribe to paid datasets in the Marketplace
- Collaborate at scale with team management and role-based access control
How does pricing work for Professional?
Pricing is customized based on your organization's needs, including storage usage, compute, data transfer, and number of users. Contact our sales team for a quote tailored to your requirements.
What kind of support is available?
- Community: Our community Slack and documentation
- Professional: Priority email support, dedicated onboarding, and optional professional services
